Ok, Tim Hardaway, what's the big f-ing deal. So someone's different then you... so what? But it's not really my place to judge him like that... isn't this America, freedom of speech, as long as it's not in a burning theater? Whatever, the world is so fractured at this point it's going to take a lot more then me bitching on an itty bitty blog. I mean really, what the hell can I do? What the hell can anybody do?
Barbara Gittings didn't feel like that. She was one of the pioneering lesbian activist in the United States. During her first year at Northwestern she became close to another female student, this prompted her to examine her own sexuality. In 1958 she founded the New York chapter of the Daughters of Bilitis. Later she became an editor of The Ladder, a lesbian newsletter. During the 1970's she joined the movement to have the American Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder. Ms. Gittings also championed the movement to include gay literature in the American library; in 2003 she was made a honorary member of the American Library Association.

Ms. Gittings passed away from breast cancer. She was with survived by partner of 46 years, Kay Tobin Lahusen and her sister.

I’ve always idolized strong powerful women. I hated that whole damsel in distress scenario…it just pissed me off to think that men were the only one that could save the world – Thbbbt! I think this has something to do with my upbringing. I always watched my mom take care of pretty much everything around the house while my dad sat in the basement and played with his toys and to some extent my Grandma who took care of a house & three kids while, and cooked, and cleaned, and washed my Grandpa’s back. Some people might find those two examples as women being subservient to men but in my little world it just meant that men couldn’t do a damn thing by themselves and women were pretty much in power. So as I wrote earlier…I’m drawn to strong powerful women. My favorite shows when I was a kid were The Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman, Nancy Drew, Pinky & Leather Tuscadero…later on I was drawn to Suzi Quatro (who was doing double time I my list), Joan Jett, Lita Ford and obviously the Runaways.

I wasn’t too familiar with Sandy West…I kinda backed into The Runaways. She along with Joan, Lita & Cherie Currie were pioneers of female rock bands. Sandy was only 16 in 1975 when she and Jett formed the The Runaways. After they disbanded Sandy continued to play with her former band mates and also formed her own band The Sandy West Band as well as releasing some of her own materials.

Sandy was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2005 and ultimately passed away on October 21, 2006 at a hospice in San Deimas, CA.

Everyone has their 'perfect type' the one characteristic that draws you in and wants to get to know them better. It could be the eyes, the ass, the tits or something a bit creepy like toes.

My type depends on the mood I'm in. Some days it's tall & somewhat of an athletic build - not muscle bound kinda like John Cusack. Other days it's blonde with big boobs, you know, like Janine Lindemulder. Don't know what dictates the driving factor...I'm just a girl that likes the extremes I guess.

As creepy as it may sound I think I would be in lust with a couple like Mickey Hargitay & Jane Mansfield. They both fit my description of lust worthy. I'd probably be a big mess of drool if I was lucky enough to be in their presence.

Mickey Hargitay was born in Hungry (go team) and was the son of an acrobat and was raised in a very athletic environment. He immigrated to the United States in 1947. Somewhere along the way he was inspired to start body building and claimed the title Mr.Universe in 1955. He parlayed this title into a show business career. He met Ms. Mansfield while performing in Mae West's Muscle Man Revue. He started in a few movies with Jayne such as "Will Sucess Spoil Rock Hunter?" . After his divorce he continued to work in motion pictures, Italian westerns and horror movies mainly. He moved on from Hollywood to a sucessful real estate career. But he recently went back to the small screen as a guest spot on his daugter, Mariska Hargitays', show "Law & Order: SVU".

Mr. Hargitay passed away from bone marrow cancer or multiple myeloma.

What always bothered me were those people that were so anti 'something' in public and behind closed doors they were overly involved in the same activity (huh?). Like I respect my mom, but totally disagree with her when it comes to homosexuality. She is 100% against it, she even stopped watching Rosie & Ellen just because they came out. She's told me this in public and at the dinner table. I wonder what she would do if she ever found out that I had a girlfriend for awhile (oops). It's the people that will publically denouce a topic, such as homosexuality, and then are a complete deviant when they are behind closed doors. Example, James West, the former mayor of Spokaine, Washington. He publically supported anti-gay legislature & led a movement to impeach a governer for sexual harassment. But the hypocritical politican sexually assulted two boys while serving as a Boy Scout leader and his online profile on Gay.com was RightBi-Guy (hot!).

He said he was sorry but was recalled anyway.

He passed away from complications of colon cancer.

I have a thing for transvestites. Transvestites, sweaty men, and leather, great combination, huh? I think that the first vanilla transvestite that I and most of the Mid-West suburban Gen-X'ers knew of was Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari on "Bosom Buddies". I had such a mad crush on Hildegarde, and I know he/she was pretty matronly but there was something about him/her. The one thing I loved about that show was Amy, she was such a good friend to those two dorks. My love of Amy spilled over the 30 minutest that the show was on and I learned her name and subsequently since 1980 have screamed "WENDIE JO SPERBER" any time she was on TV to delight (ha) of boyfriends, friends and family. The woman was in a lot of things, especially 1941, Used Cars, Moving Violations, The Bachlor Party, and most recently guest starring on Will & Grace and 8 Simple Rules.

In 1997 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. By 2002 the cancer had spread through her body, she reached out to the breast cancer community and found the group weSPARK.
On November 29th she lost her battle with cancer and passed away.

I moved out of my parents house when I was 19. For a few years there I worked at a bakery so my diet consisted of bagels, donuts, left over soup and an occasional sandwich. I got HUGE. I finally wised up and quit that job and it was ramin, rice and frozen veggies there out. The Jolly Green Giant was a fixture in my freezer for a long time. It was cheap, reasonably healthy and didn't require a lot of thought when it came to meal preparation. My freezer so packed with bags and bags of frozen veggies that I swore I heard that damn "Ho Ho Ho Green Giant" jingle each and every time that I opened the door.

The guy that was the voice of the Jolly Green Giant passed away. His career didn't just involve voice work for cartoon pitchmen but he also was a singer that toured in various stage shows and showed worked on variety shows until his retirement in 1991.

Mr. Dresslar passed away from cancer.

I was 7 years old when ‘The Muppet Movie’ was released. It was summertime, so guess where I was, when my dad called up and said he was taking me to the movies; not only was it a weeknight but my dad was coming over to see me!!! I ran over to my Aunts house, who was on the opposite side of the block screamed that I was going to the movies and that I would say ‘hi’ to the Swedish Chef, because he was my Uncles favorite Muppet. Daddy picked me up and we drove down to the theatre across the street from Eastland Mall only to purchase tickets to Superman. I sulked through the whole movie. I wanted Fozzie Bear not Kal-El.

Jim Henson was not the only man responsible for creating the Muppet empire. Jerry Juhl joined the Jim Henson Company in 1961 and was a writer for Kermit, Gonzo, et. al. from Sesame Street & Fraggle Rock right up to 1999’s ‘Muppets From Space” and won two Emmy Awards for his work.

Mr. Juhl passed away September 27th from complications from pancreatic cancer.

My favorite thing to watch nowadays (besides bad amateur porn) is the Game Show Network. I love it when they show all the cheesy 1970’s B&C list celebrities spouting off answers to inane questions. I know, I know, there are still many celeb’s doing the same thing but they’re not quite the caliber as Paul Lynde, Rose Marie, Charles Nelson Reily & Mr Nipsy Russell.

I don’t want to remember Mr. Russell for his performance in ‘The Wiz’ but for his poetic answers to such questions as ‘Mary, Mary Quite Contrary couldn't make her garden grow with water, so she used *blank* instead (courtesy of IMDB) and in ‘Car 54, Where Are You?’ & ‘Wild Cats’.

Mr. Russell passed away from stomach cancer.

I'm not overly political.
I bitch about the government but I 've never done anything about it.
People actually do stuff in life that counts for something. Bill did. He went through law school was nominated to Supreme Court in 1971 by Nixon and was elevated to chief Justice by Reagan in 1986.
Justice Rehnquist passed away at age 80 on September 3rd from complications of thyroid cancer. The Death Pool fanatics kept an eye on this guy especially since his appearance at G Dubba's inauguration in January.

Back in the late 70's when I was banished to Detroit (8 Mile & Groesbeck) during summer vacation. Most of my suburbinite friends spent summers on farms or at least in quiet subdivisions, I got sent to the city to play in my Grandparent itty bitty backyard. Since there wasn't much else to do I watched a lot of TV. Gilligans Island was one of the shows that played mid morning on channel 50...it's funny how seven stranded castaways in the 60's equaled situation comedy with no residuals but in the new century it's a reality series for average citizens to milk 15 minutes of fame.

Bob Denver was best known as Willy Gilligan but before his big break he stared as Maynard G. Krebs in 'The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis' - his beatnik personna persisted even until 1988 when he was arrested for receiving a package of marijuana at his West Virgina home.

Mr. Denver passed away on September 2nd due to complications of thoat cancer treatments

My father took me to a lot of movies when I was a kid - because he didn't really know what else to do with me. I begged him to go see 'Star Wars' and 'Empire Strikes Back' but he wasn't interested in those type of flicks, he took me to see movies like 'Hot Dog' and 'The Fog' instead, movies that would basically screw me up for a REALLY long time. I finally wore him down so he took me to see 'Return of the Jedi' but it really didn't make any sense to me because I missed the first two (we didn't have a VCR). So fast forward a few years to when I had 'Empire' pretty much memorized, or so I thought. Remember when the movies were re-releases with all the added (crappy) features? My boyfriend, at the time, and his friends went to a showing of ESB at the Showcase on 15 & Van Dyke. I was quoting a line or two here and there but DK knew the whole damn movie by heart, even doing an incredible impression of Yodi. He was my idol, not only could he do that, he drove a Coronet (a '68 I believe).

The man who played Admiral Ozzel, Michael Sheard, passed away of cancer today. For me he was fondly remembered as the guy who was choked by Vader who was standing 10 feet away. He also played Hilter in a number of movies such as Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, but he was best known for playing Mr. Bronson in the British Childrens show "Grange Hill".

I had this teacher in high school, Miss Cardamone, she was awesome. She was really great to all of our students and made them feel special. She, like many others, assigned "To Kill A Mockingbird" for reading assignment. I didn't really care for the book, I was pretty happy when we were finished. The one shining point of it was that we got to watch the film. The film was incredible. The acting was suburb, Gregory Peck, Robert Duvall and Brock Peters who played Tom Robinson the man wrongly accused of raping a white girl. Mr. Peters won the part over James Earl Jones. He acted steadily up to a few years before his death doing a lot of voice over work and starring in two Star Trek movies as Admiral Cartwright in 'The Undiscovered Country' and 'The Voyage Home'

Mr. Peters passed away from pancreatic cancer.

Remember that they had 40 videos?
Remember that Herbie Hancock song 'Rockit'? We have Robert Moog to thank for that. Robert Moog is best known for being the pioneer of the modern synthesizer. The New York native schooled in electrical engineering and engineering physics was facinated with sounds at an early age and began selling custom 'spooky' sounding electronic instruments as a hobby.
His work has had a huge impact on music with groups like Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and the Beatles.


Mr. Moog passed away from brain cancer.

Back in grade school one of my friends bragged that her dad was on pit crew. She was pretty excited about it, I on the other hand, had absolutely no clue what a pit crew was and why that was important. I spent the night at her house once and she asked her dad to tell some stories and show off the trophies and pictures. I was still baffled.
Many, many, many years later I marry a NASCAR fan. He knows what a pit crew is, he knows what a spotter is, he knows all this crap about racing and now I do too.
Clifton "Coo Coo" Marlin, father of Sterling Martin, raced NASCAR from 1966 to 1980. He never won a race in his 165 races but finished in the top 10 in nearly a third of the races he started.

He passed away after battling lung cancer in his home town of Columbia, Tennessee, 300 Miles from Bristol.

Dallas was on CBS on Friday nights, right after The Dukes of Hazzard. I hated both shows but watched them because my friends watched and I didn't want to be left out of the conversation Monday morning. My friend CH could recite the whole plot line of Friday nights episode, I couldn't tell you one damn thing about it...I'd mostly agree that Patrick Duffy was a fox and that Bo Duke was way cuter then Luke. Thankfully we moved on to Dynasty which was far more interesting then Dallas
It wasn't until my later years when I was deep into Alfred Hitchcock movies that I really knew or cared anything about Ms Bel Geddes. Her career started in the 1940's and lasted through the end of the Dallas series.

There seems to be a rash of lung cancer deaths recently first Peter Jennings, then Barbara Bel Geddes and then the recent annoucement that Dana Reeve was diagnosed. Hopefully this won't finish the tri-fec-ta (because I don't know how to spell the damn word).

What few times we sat around the dinner table together we were sure to have on our little 4" black & white T.V. not to miss Walter Cronkite and the CBS news. I loved that man it seemed like he genuianely cared about world events and happenings and telling this to countless, faceless Americans glued in front of the boob-tube. But all good things come to an end, Cronkite retired in March 1981 leaving us with the frumpy Roger Mudd. Evening news wasn't that interesting anymore. That was until Peter Jennings came on to the scene. He had a clear, calming voice that made me want to listen to every word that he uttered. The nightly world news became intriging again...I wanted to listen to what was going on outside our borders. Best of all, he always seemed to have a grin on his face like he was holding back on letting everyone else in on the joke. His humor came out during his interview on Stern as well as his March 2005 guest spot on 'The Daily Show'.
In April of this year he announced to the world that he had be diagnosed with lung cancer. Ten days after his 67 birthday he passed away My deepest sympathies for his wife and two children.
